Sample Registration Application
This example allows you to "register" for a hypothetical conference/seminar. It illustrates how we can capture the key data required for such a registration and assign a unique user ID on the fly; how we can link this registration data into related information required for hotel registration; and how we can allow registrants to subsequently alter some of their data while the rest of that data remains locked.
All information is captured in a Microsoft Access database -- so it's subsequently available off-line for additional processing, using all the tools that Access provides.
As you execute this example, you'll see that we've required data entry in certain fields -- illustrating a key aspect of the control one can maintain over user data entry in such an application. Not implemented to any significant degree, but possible, is data validation -- so you can (and should!) enter a nonsense string rather than your actual credit card number in the registration form. You can also enter a fictitious name and address (although to see the automated e-mail reply feature, you will have to enter your true e-mail address).
Conference Registration
To register: Leave the ID space blank and press the Registration button.
To modify a registration: Enter your ID and press the Registration button.
Hotel Registration
You must have a registration ID (see above). Enter that ID and press the Housing button.
